Kristín Gunnlaugsdóttir

2024 – Born to sparkle, Gallery Consolate, Vilnius, 13/6 – 30/8

The Honorary Consul of Iceland, Mr. Dalius Radis and Harald Aspelund, Ambassador of Iceland in Helsinki, opened the exhibition Born to sparkle, in the Gallery of the Honorary Consolate in Vilnius, curated by Dr. Ásthildur Jónsdóttir. https://www.icelandicartcenter.is/

The main thread in the exhibition by the Icelandic artist Ms Kristin Gunnlaugsdottir ´s work has been based on the life of women in society and their image. In the works of ´Born to sparkle she mirrors what we can see and hear around us. The influential images on Instagram that project the ideal look, remind of European sacred art where the model was exalted, surrounded by gold. The works on wood panels are painted with the medieval art technique of egg tempera and gold leaf. The stitched works on rough canvas with harsh words we all know so well highlight the need for free expression.
